Ready to have a spooky good time? This year tour a haunted house, dance the Monster Mash, attend the “Trial of the Wicked Witch,” and eat lots of candy you scared up from one of these many spook-tacular local Halloween events.
• Enjoy 44 acres of blood-curdling fear and fun by attending one or all the following attractions: Niles Haunted House, The Lodge, Dust to Dust, The Field of Screams, Wicked Woods, Hooded, Escape Rooms and the terrifying activities on the midway. Concessions available. Halloween themed movie. The Niles Scream Park is open from 7 to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 25; 7 to 10 p.m. on Sundays Oct. 12-Oct. 26; and Black Out dates Nov. 7-8 from 7 to 10 p.m.; 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 31, and 7 to 11 on the adults 18+ only night on Nov 1. • Fear Itself will have you taking a chance in one of Legend Park’s haunted houses: Ward 13, Sinister Circus, Rock Monkey Caves, and Taken. The park also offers attractions and rides, live entertainment, concessions, games, shopping, photo opportunities, and more. Legend Park is located at 14130 McKinley Highway, Mishawaka and is open Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to midnight, and Sundays from 7 to 10:30 p.m. through Oct. 26; 7 to 10:30 p.m. Oct. 30-31; 7 p.m. to midnight Nov. 1 with a special event, Brainstorm Zombie Invasion from 7 p.m. to midnight Nov. 7-8. • Haunted train rides are back at the National New York Central Railroad Museum, 721 S. Main St., Elkhart. Each Saturday in October features a “Haunted Train Ride” during regular museum hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Then trick or treat at the museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 25. Free treats for the kids. Admission is adults, $6-$5; children, 3 and under, free.
• Eden Springs Park in Benton Harbor will offer Halloween Train Rides from 5 to 8 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in October. Bring the family and enjoy the train ride, lights and spooky atmosphere. This event is family friendly and there are some flashing lights. Admission is $5 cash only (children 3 and under are free). • Ride through the haunted woods aboard a real steam train. Search for the Mad Lumberjack and be visited by many ghoulish creatures along the way. All three railroads will operate and will depart at frequent intervals from noon to 5 p.m. CDT every Saturday and Sunday in October. The Hesston Ghost Train is appropriate for children. Hesston Steam Museum is located at 1201 E. 1000 N., LaPorte. Tickets are $9-$5 and can be purchased online at hesston.org.
• Zoo Boo will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Oct. 24, and 25 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Potawatomi Zoo, 500 S. Greenlawn Ave., South Bend. There will be themed character actors at photo op spots and roaming the Zoo. The first weekend’s theme will be Heroes and Princesses, and the second weekend is Witches and Wizardry. All paid admissions receive a ticket to trick or treat around the Treat Trail, so bring a bag. Ride the Haunted Train after 5:30 p.m. on Friday or Saturday (may not be suitable for all ages). Ride the carousel or feed the giraffes from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Friday or Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. A variety of places to purchase concessions will be available. Costumes for children and adults encouraged but not required. No full-face masks are allowed on visitors 15 and older. The best time to view most animals is before 5 p.m. Adult tickets, $16; children (ages 2-14), $14; babies (up to age 2) are free. Zoo members receive a discounted rate. • Candlelight Mystery at the Mansion will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. CDT Oct. 24, and 25 at the Barker Mansion, 631 Washington St., Michigan City. By the glow of candlelight, step into Barker Mansion and investigate a century-old question: Does a secret tunnel connect the Mansion to Haskell & Barker Factory? No definitive proof has ever been found – until now. Tickets are $25, limited and must be purchased online at barkermansion.org.
• The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum will have Twilight Pumpkin Trains, with the Not-So-Scary, Scary Animal Show put on by Silly Safaris on Oct. 25. The Animal Show begins at 4:15 p.m. CDT and the diesel train pulls away from the depot area at 5:30 p.m. CDT for a 45-minute excursion through the countryside. Cost: adults (age 16+), $22; children (ages 3 to15), $16; 2 and under, free.
Additional Pumpkin Trains will also run Oct. 25. The diesel train is a 10-mile, round trip to the Kankakee River, lasting 45-minutes, and dropping passengers off at the pumpkin patch on the museum grounds. The cost is $20-Free. The steam train travels 1.4 miles and returns passengers to the pumpkin patch. The cost is $12-Free.

• The 6th annual Haunted Walk Through the Woods event will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Oct. 24 and Oct. 25. Take a hike through the decorated trails (kid-friendly and scary) and enjoy local food vendors, artisan vendors, and live music. Costumes encouraged. There is no charge for this haunted walk, but donations are appreciated. The Haunted Walk is held at the Elkhart Environmental Center, 1717 E. Lusher Ave., Elkhart. October 24
• Unity Gardens Spooktacular will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at 3701 Prast Blvd., South Bend. It will feature a haunted garden trail, fun games, live music, hot cocoa and popcorn. Family friendly event.
• Mystery at the Mansion: Sinking Suspicions will be held Oct. 24. First tour leaves at 5:30 p.m. and last tour begins at 8 p.m. from The History Museum, 897 W. Thomas St., South Bend. Participants help solve the mystery of who was responsible for the shipwreck of the SS Seward and the death of the captain of the ship and Sidney Bluth. Clues will be given as participants walk from room to room in the three-story Oliver Mansion. Stair-climbing is required. Tickets are: $25-$20. Reservations recommended; tours are limited. • Trick or Treat in a safe environment exclusively made for families with children with disabilities at LoveWay, 54151 County Road 33, Middlebury from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 24 during its Fourth Annual Barn Boo-Nanza. This free event offers a sensory-friendly environment, treats include small toys, snacks, and candy, fun games, opportunity to meet other families and meet the LoveWay staff and volunteers. Costumes encouraged (no scary or violent costumes allowed). LoveWay is a nonprofit that provides equine-assisted services to individuals with disabilities.
• Halloween Glow in the Dark Night Hike is Oct. 24 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. CDT. On Friday enjoy a hayride, play yard games, and find vampires and ghosts hiding in the wood, check out the carved pumpkins, then cozy up by the fire and have a s’more at Luhr County Park, 3178 S. 150 W., LaPorte.
• The Acorn is hosting a Boo Ball featuring Expo ’76 & Total Pro Horns at 8 p.m. Oct. 24. Scare up a costume to win spooktacular prizes, enjoy freaky food from Classic Catering, bid on wickedly fun items at the silent and live auctions and dance the night away. Seating is limited; this show is a dance-party style. General admission advance tickets are $68. Ticket prices increase by $5 the week of the show. • Halloween Campfire and Hayrides will be offered at Ox Bow County Park, Red Pines Campfire, 23033 County Road 45, Goshen, from 7 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 24-25. • Boo To You will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 24 in the Indiana University South Bend Student Activities Center, 941 S. 20th St., South Bend. This free event invites the local community for food, fun, free candy, crafts, and bounce house. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Halloween Happenings at Potato Creek State Park, 25601 Indiana 4, North Liberty will be Oct. 24-26. Mark your calendar to get spooked and thrilled as you join in the park’s Halloween events. • “Trial of the Wicked Witch: The Musical” will be presented by Wagon Wheel Junior Oct. 24-26 at Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, 2515 E. Center St., Warsaw. • Franciscan Health Michigan City will host a free trunk or treat event for the community, rain or shine, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. CDT on Oct. 24 at the hospital’s legacy campus at 301 W. Homer St. in Michigan City. DJ Jammin’ D will provide entertainment and there will be food trucks available.
• The Fulton County Historical Society presents a haunting new experience called The Forest of Fearz on Oct. 24-25 and Oct. 31-Nov. 1. The event is open from 8 p.m. to midnight and admission is $15 per person. Enter if you dare! The museum is located at 37 E. 375 N. (just off U.S. 31) in Rochester.

• The City of Mishawaka Parks and Recreation department will hold “Table-or-Treat the Riverwalk” from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 25 along the Mishawaka Riverwalk (Central Park to Beutter Park) in Mishawaka. There will be spooky surprises, music, and of course, candy. This event is free and open to all ages.
• Trunk or Treat Fall Fest will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 25 at Shanklin Park, 411 W. Plymouth Ave., Goshen. Event includes trunk or treating, blow-up Halloween figures for photo ops, hayrides, and vendors providing spooktacular treats. There will be a free movie at 7 p.m. Costumes are optional. • Come to the LaPorte County Historical Society Museum, 2405 Indiana Ave., LaPorte, and meet time-traveling Halloween guests. From 2 to 4 p.m. CDT, Oct. 25, trick or treat through time in the Museum. Admission is free to trick-or-treaters during the event. Children with disabilities or who prefer a quieter environment may trick or treat from 1 to 1:45 p.m. CDT. • Spend Halloween howling with the wolves during Howl-o-Ween Night at Wolf Park, 4004 E. 800 N., Battle Ground, Indiana, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. CDT Oct. 25. • South Bend Police Department and the South Bend Cubs present Cops & Goblins, a safe, fun, and free trick-or-treating night. This event will be held at Four Winds Field, 501 W. • Trick or Treat on Eddy Street Commons, 1234 N. Eddy St., South Bend, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28. This event is for children 12 years old and younger in costume. • The Elkhart County Historical Museum, 304 W. Vistula St., Bristol, will celebrate the Dia de los Muertos from 9 to 5 p.m. Oct. 28-31. Guests may leave an offering to honor and memorialize a departed loved one. Offerings may include photos, nonperishable food, and small decorations such as flowers, water, and battery-operated candles.

• The Studebaker National Museum and The History Museum will hold its annual Trunk or Treat event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29. The program is designed for children up to age 13 but all ages are welcome. Costumes are encouraged but not required. All children must be accompanied by an adult. • “Rocky Horror Show – The Musical” will be performed at The GhostLight Theatre, 101 Hinkley St., Benton Harbor, Oct. 29-Nov. 2. The shows on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday begin at 7:30 p.m. The performance on Sunday begins at 3 p.m. There will also be a midnight showing on Oct. 31. • Step into the shadows of the Barker Mansion from 6 to 8 p.m. CDT Oct. 29 for a chilling evening of dramatic readings spanning 200 years of gothic literature. Grant Fitch brings to life stories of ghosts, monsters, and madmen. This special after-hours program explores the darkest corners of classic horror and modern suspense. • Plan now to attend Soups and Spirits Dinner Theater Experience as the Twin City Players send chills up your spine with a collection of poems, stories, improv, and scenes from the storied annals of the horror genre. • Children of all ages are encouraged to sport their best costume to haunt the mall in search of candy during Malloween Trick-or-Treating at University Park Mall from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31. Participating stores will have a pumpkin decal on their storefront. The mall is located at 6501 N. Grape Road, Mishawaka.
• Celebrate Halloween at the Monster Bash at Four Winds South Bend’s Ribbon Town Conference and Event Center, 3000 Prairie Ave., South Bend, on Oct. 31. General admission tickets are $15, and VIP tickets are $30, plus fees, and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com. Monster Bash begins with DJ H2 when the doors open at 7 p.m. Live music from Party Foul will be from 8 to 11 p.m. $1,000 in prizes will be awarded to the best costumes of the night. • Trick or Treat at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds, 17746-D County Road 34, Goshen, from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 31. This is a safe, free trick or treat event and no registration is required. Contest categories include spookiest costume, most unique costume, cutest costume, best group costume (all ages can participate in this category if there is a child under the age of 18 participating). Winners will be announced on the Monday after the event. Enter the fairgrounds through Gate 2.
• The Town of Lakeville will celebrate All Hallows Eve from 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Lakeville Community Barn, 214 W. Patterson St., Lakeville. The costume contest will be held at 7:30 p.m. Explore the Haunted Trails until 11 p.m. Food and snacks are available until gone.

• Trick or Treat on Main Street, from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 31 in downtown Goshen. Hosted by the Goshen Chamber of Commerce with downtown businesses. Participating stores will display an orange sign.
• The REES Theatre will host “Defy Gravity” a Wicked sing-along at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Dress up in your favorite costume, grab your friends and family, and get ready to sing along to iconic songs from Wicked. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 years of age and under. Guests can expect themed fun, photo ops, and a touch of magic. The REES Theatre is located at 100 N. Michigan St. in Plymouth.
