Caitlin Clark teases Nike signature shoe; Indiana Fever star named player of the week

INDIANAPOLIS — Caitlin Clark isn’t revealing much about her signature shoe. Yet.

Clark came to the Indiana Fever’s game against Toronto on Tuesday in a vintage Alexander McQueen bodysuit, which included “very important” friendship bracelets that read “Caitlin 1” and “10-01-26.”

“Mark your calendars,” she said when asked about the bracelets pregame.

Her signature shoe launch isn’t coming for Tuesday’s game against Toronto, she said, but she has a date in mind — one she’s keeping quiet for now.

This shoe, too, has been multiple years in the making. When Nike re-signed Clark ahead of her rookie season in 2024, it came with an announcement that she would eventually have her own signature shoe. For the past couple years, she’s been releasing Player Editions of Nike Kobes, including colorways that paid homage to her favorite board game Scrabble, the Great Lakes and Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.

Behind the scenes, she’s been working with Nike for her signature shoe.

“It’s been amazing,” Clark said. “It’s been really fun. I think there’s been a lot of innovation and ideas, and you go back and forth, and I think for myself, when I saw the final product, it was one of those moments where you have those moments in life, and you’re like, ‘Dang, that’s the one,’ and you just know in the moment that it’s going to be something special. That’s what I truly feel. I feel like I really challenged Nike to make it something that I’m going to be super, super proud of, and I think the world will really love it and want to chase after.”

After years of planning, and even more years of dreaming that this could even be a possibility, she will become one of the few basketball players in the world that has a Nike signature shoe. She will join a coveted group of active players that include A’ja Wilson, Sabrina Ionescu, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“I was probably a kid that grew up thinking that this was never going to be in the cards for me,” Clark said. “I loved wearing whatever Nike shoe it was growing up. I remember my first pair of Jordans, pink Jordans that I had, and I remember my very first pink pair of Nike basketball shoes … for myself to be able to have a signature shoe, for young boys and girls to be able to hopefully want to wear it and be able to put it on and dream, you don’t have to be a basketball players, but dream to achieve whatever you want, that’s what I hope people feel when they put the shoe on.”

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark named WNBA Player of the Week

Clark’s signature shoe announcement comes on the same day she was announced the WNBA Player of the Week alongside A’ja Wilson. Clark averaged 25.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.7 assists over three games last week, which included a game-winner over Washington and a 30-point double-double in overtime against Chicago.

“It’s an award of how well we’re playing right now,” Clark said. “Obviously, stringing three together, and they’re all pretty close, and I wouldn’t be able to do that if it wasn’t for my teammates. It’s just as much theirs as it is mine.”
