Ball State basketball transfer portal tracker. Who's staying, who's going?

Ball State basketball’s season is over, and players have already begun announcing their intentions to transfer.

Ball State fired head coach Michael Lewis after four seasons on Saturday, March 7, the day after the Cardinals’ regular season finale. Chris Capko was officially hired as the next Ball State basketball coach on Monday, March 20. Coaching transitions tend to correlate with high roster turnover, and Ball State is expected to experience yet another offseason with plenty of moving parts.

Four players from last year’s roster — Devon Barnes, Cam Denson, Elmore James IV and Juwan Maxey — are out of eligibility, so their roster spots will need to be filled no matter who transfers. Since the end of the season, a handful of additional players have announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal.

The transfer portal officially opens for college basketball players on Tuesday, April 7, one day after the national championship game. The 15-day window is two weeks shorter than previous years and closes on Tuesday, April 21. Players are free to announce their plans to transfer — or change their minds — until the portal officially opens.

Here are all of the transfer portal commitments for Ball State basketball, as well as a list of players leaving the Cardinals:

Ball State basketball transfer portal additions

Jazz Henderson, Texas Tech

Texas Tech transfer guard Jazz Henderson has committed to Ball State, according to a report from Tobias Bass of The Athletic on Wednesday, April 22.

The 5-foot-11 guard from Dallas, Texas, won three state championships in high school at Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy. He committed to Texas Tech and took a redshirt year in the 2024-25 season. As a redshirt freshman in 2025-26, Henderson appeared in 13 games for the Red Raiders and scored 11 points in 50 total minutes of playing time. He will join the Cardinals with three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Babatunde Durodola, Temple

Ball State added some more size from the transfer portal with a commitment from former Temple forward Babatunde Durodola. His commitment was reported by Sam Kayser of Kayser Hoops on X on Monday, April 20.

The 6-foot-8 Durodola hails from Toronto, Canada, and played on the high school national team at DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was a 3-star recruit in the Class of 2024 and committed to Temple, where he went on to start all 32 games for the Owls as a true freshman. Durodola averaged 4.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in 16.2 minutes per game during that 2025-25 season. In 2025-26, he started the first nine games for Temple before shifting to a bench role for the remainder of the season, but he still saw an uptick in playing time up to 19.3 minutes per game. He averaged 4.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 49.5% from the field.

Jaden Smith, Saint Joseph’s

Ball State picked up its first big from the transfer portal in Saint Joseph’s transfer Jaden Smith. Sam Kayser of Kayser Hoops reported the commitment on X on Friday, April 17.

The 6-foot-11 Smith was a four-star high school prospect out of Kenwood Academy in Chicago. He began his career at Fordham in the 2024-25 season, where he appeared in 11 games and averaged 2.9 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. Smith transferred to St. Joseph’s for his sophomore season and appeared in all 37 games for the Hawks with one start. He averaged 2.7 ppg and 1.8 rpg in 8.8 minutes per game. Smith will join the Cardinals as a true junior with two years of eligibility remaining.

Javion Guy-King, Central Arkansas

Ball State has landed another guard from the portal with Central Arkansas transfer Javion Guy-King announcing his commitment to the Cardinals via his X account on Thursday, April 16.

Guy-King spent three seasons at Central Arkansas but only played two. The 6-foot-6 guard played in 27 games with six starts as a true freshman in 2023-24, averaging 7.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2 assists per game. Before the 2024-25 season, Guy-King was ruled ineligible due to an NCAA rules infraction, but he remained with the Bears and returned to play the 2025-26 season.

Guy-King emerged as a leader for the Bears this past season as they went 22-12 overall and won a share of the ASUN regular season title with a 15-3 conference record. He played in 32 games and started 20 of them, including the last 19. He averaged 9.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg and 1.8 apg while shooting 42.8% from the floor and 34.1% from 3-point range. Guy-King scored a season-high 31 points at Austin Peay on Feb. 25.

Aaron Fine, Purdue

Chris Capko has landed his first in-state commitment as Ball State’s head coach. Former Noblesville and Purdue guard Aaron Fine announced his commitment to the Cardinals via his X account on Wednesday, April 15.

Fine was a 2024 Indiana All-Star following his senior season at Noblesville and began his college career at Purdue. The 6-foot-2 guard redshirted the 2024-25 season and made his debut this past season, appearing in nine games for the Boilermakers with 23 total minutes of action. Fine will join the Cardinals as a redshirt sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining.

Joining Ball State will be a homecoming for Fine, whose father, Matt, was the coach at Muncie Central for 10 seasons. Matt Fine led the Bearcats to six sectional titles and two IHSAA Class 4A state finals appearances in 2005 and 2006 and is in the Delaware County Athletic Hall of Fame.

Trey Lewis, Western Michigan

Ball State basketball has landed another transfer from within the MAC with a commitment from former Western Michigan guard Trey Lewis. Tobias Bass first reported the move for The Athletic on Tuesday, April 14.

Ball State will be Lewis’ fourth school. The 6-foot-6 guard began his career at Loyola Chicago, redshirting the 2022-23 season before appearing in 10 games during the 2023-24 season. Lewis then transferred to Purdue Fort Wayne, where he appeared in all 32 games for the Mastodons during the 2024-25 season and averaged 4.7 points per game while shooting 38% from 3-point range. He made his way to the MAC for the 2025-26 season, averaging 7.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game for the Broncos. Lewis will have one season of eligibility remaining as a redshirt senior.

He spent his sophomore season at Florida Southwestern where he started all 29 games and averaged 16.8 ppg.

Parker prepped at Winter Haven High School in Lakeland, Florida. He and Capko are both Lakeland natives. Parker will join Ball State as a senior with one season of eligibility remaining.
