The Indianapolis Colts shared another wild stat that showcases just how dominant running back Jonathan Taylor has been.
In terms of total points put on the scoreboard this season, Taylor ranks first among all players with 86. The next 14 players on that list are all kickers.
While, of course, a touchdown is worth more than a field goal or extra point, the fact that 14 of the top 15 players on this list are kickers goes to show how difficult it is to find the end zone.
Kickers, however, typically get the opportunity to put up points on a weekly basis and oftentimes are able to do so multiple times, which is why it is normal for this position group to lead this category.
But Taylor isn’t having a typical year. Through eight games, he is already up to 14 total touchdowns and converted a two-point conversion, giving up his 86 total points that he’s contributed to the Colts’ offense.
This includes Taylor already having three games with at least three total touchdowns scored.
The next closest non-kicker to Taylor is Green Bay Packers’ running back and Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams, with 54 points each.
To go along with Taylor’s touchdown production, he also leads the NFL in rushing yards with 850, and he’s also first in carries and third in yards per rush with 5.9 per attempt, per PFF.
“It’s hard to put into words, to be honest, because when you see the way he’s running, the way the guys are blocking for him, I mean, it’s special,” head coach Shane Steichen said via Colts.com.
