Prior to the Indianapolis Colts’ first Week 9 practice on Wednesday, head coach Shane Steichen provided an injury update on defensive end Samson Ebukam.
It was during the Colts’ Week 7 matchup with the LA Chargers that Ebukam suffered a knee injury.
According to a report from ESPN, it is an MCL injury that he is working through. Last week, Steichen would call Ebukam “week to week” at that time.
So as of today, Wednesday the 29th, Ebukam will still not be practicing, said Steichen.
Since suffering the injury on Oct. 19th, Ebukam has yet to return to the practice field and did not play this past Sunday.
Along with Ebukam not practicing on Wednesday, neither will fellow defensive end Tyquan Lewis (groin), nor will wide receiver Anthony Gould.
Lewis did not play against the Titans after sustaining the groin injury against the Chargers. He did not practice at all last week. Gould exited Sunday’s game with a knee injury.
Steichen says that all three players are progressing “really well” and the group will be monitored throughout the week.
Without Ebukam or Lewis this past game, rookie JT Tuimoloau took on a much larger role, while Durell Nchami was elevated from the practice squad.
Depending on Gould’s timeline, Ameer Abdullah provides the Colts with another option at return man.
