Alec Pierce, Kenny Moore injury updates from Colts' HC Shane Steichen

Prior to Wednesday’s practice in preparation for the Indianapolis Colts’ Week 5 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders, head coach Shane Steichen provided some brief injury updates.

Steichen told reporters that Alec Pierce would be practicing on Wednesday.

Pierce did not practice at all last week after entering concussion protocol following the Colts’ Week 3 win against the Tennessee Titans. He then did not play against the LA Rams.

It is still possible that even though Pierce is practicing, he could still be in concussion protocol, but returning to the field is certainly a step in the right direction.

Without Pierce in last week’s game, the Colts leaned heavily on AD Mitchell, who had two extremely costly mistakes in that contest.

Kenny Mooore, who is working through an Achilles injury, will not be practicing, however. A report from Ian Rapoport last week said that Moore could miss a couple of weeks with this injury.

In Moore’s place against the Rams, we saw a lot of Mike Hilton at the nickel. Hilton allowed two receptions on three targets for just seven yards. He also made three tackles, according to PFF.

Mekhi Blackmon saw some nickel snaps in that game as well.

Lastly, while linebacker Jaylon Carlies is now eligible to come off injured reserve, that won’t be happening this week.
