Whether you’re looking for a quick snack, drink or an inexpensive meal, here are seven local restaurants where you can find something delicious to eat for $7 or less.
Chef’s Table Catering
Located at 3860 W. Third St., Chef’s Table Catering has three different hot dogs, each costing less than $7. The regular dog is $5.50 and includes ketchup and mustard. Next, the chili dog is priced at $6 with chili and diced onions. Lastly, the Chicago dog, for $6.50, includes a poppy seed bun, tomato, pickle, onion, celery salt, sport peppers and relish. Chef’s Table Catering also offers $2.75 chips, $3.50 french fries and a $4.75 side salad. The food can be picked up or eaten at the westside restaurant or delivered by Driver on Deck.
King Gyros
A family-owned restaurant at 2000 S. Walnut St. serves gyros, sandwiches, salads and some inexpensive sides. The gyro sandwich, which contains a blend of beef and spices topped with tomatoes, onions and tzatziki sauce is set at $6.55. The cheeseburgers and hamburgers are priced at $3.99 with other inexpensive sandwich options ranging from $2.99 to $7.55. King Gyros also offers $6.99 salads and sides including fries, tamales, chili and mozzarella sticks — all below $7. King Gyros offers in-person services as well as delivery on DoorDash, Grubhub and Uber Eats.
Aver’s Pizza
Looking for a quick and cheesy lunch? Aver’s Pizza offers pizza by the slice for lunch at both locations, 317 E. Winslow Road and 1837 N. Kinser Pike. Customers can choose a $2.75 cheese slice, $3 pepperoni, $3.75 Cream & Crimson or the rotating slice of the day for $3.75. The slice of the day can be found at on averspizza.com/lunch-slices. The pizza by the slice is only good for carryout.
Dat’s Cajun Creole Cafe
Dat’s Cajun Creole Cafe offers half-orders for $4.50 and is located at 408 E. Fourth St. The half-order is a smaller portion of entrees, which range from gumbo, chicken, sandwiches, etouffee, chili and jambalaya. Dat’s also has inexpensive desserts including pie, cake and mousse for $3.75. Customers can dine in or order online at Mr Delivery or GrubHub.
Hoosier Seoulmate
A Korean fusion restaurant at 1614 W. Third St. created “bul-dogs.” This is a cheap twist on Korean marinated meats known as bulgogi. The pork and chicken bul-dogs are $4.99 each as well as the street style egg-dog. Customers can get the beef bul-dog for just a dollar more. Hoosier Seoulmate also offers a few appetizers for less than $7, including $5.99 vegetable mandu, $4.99 crispy seaweed rolls, $4.99 cheese balls and $5.99 cheesy bulgogi boomerangs. Hoosier Seoulmate offers both take-out and dine-in.
The Chocolate Moose
While The Chocolate Moose on 405 S. Walnut St. is known for their sweet treats, they also serve cheap sandwiches and sides. Customers can enjoy $5.50 chili dogs, $2.75 for the popular “frenchies” (coney sauce on a bun), $4 hot dogs and $7 mac & cheese. Sides include $4 potato wedges, $4 mac & cheese and $2 for potato chips. The kids menu has three different options, all less than $7, and is perfect to pair with one of their dessert options. The Chocolate Moose provides delivery and dine-in.
Mother Bear’s Pizza
A Bloomington staple, Mother Bear’s Pizza has two locations, 1428 E. Third St. and 2980 W. Whitehall Crossing Blvd. Both locations offer a 6-inch cheese pizza for $5.25 or a 6-inch 1 topping pizza for $6.25. Mother Bear’s offers delivery services and dine-in.
