When is summer? What to know about incoming hot weather, Memorial Day and more

Summer is right around the corner, along with sunny beach days and breaks from school. Though spring is still in full swing, it’s only a matter of weeks until the heat notches up.

The last day of spring is on Thursday, June 19.

When is summer 2025?

Summer begins on Friday, June 20, this year.

What time is summer solstice?

The summer solstice begins at 9:42 p.m. CT.

Summer weather in Illinois

Summers in Illinois are typically characterized by average temperature highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s.

The Farmers’ Almanac forecasted a hot and stormy summer this year for much of the country, saying, “Heat will be in full force by July, with much of the nation sweltering with above-to-high-above average temperatures.”

The periodical also predicted near-average precipitation for most states, including Illinois.
