PEORIA — WEEK-TV has named a new chief meteorologist to replace Chuck Collins, who is retiring after more than 50 years in the business.
Brian Walder, who has been with the station since 2017, has been tabbed to replace Collins as the chief meteorologist, WEEK announced on Thursday.
Walder will take over Collins’ role on Oct. 15, according to the station.
“There is a unique relationship between the community and its local meteorologist. I know that trust and respect are earned and not given, so my promise to you is to work hard every day to provide the best forecast possible,” Walder said in a Facebook post announcing his new role. “I hope to have fun together when we can, but when threatening weather is possible my job is to make sure that our team is keeping you safe and informed.”
