Seven Woodford County businesses fail underage alcohol checks

A group of Woodford County businesses failed a series of underage alcohol compliance checks conducted by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission last week.

ILCC, with help from the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office, conducted the checks on May 6-7, recruiting underage participants from local high schools and colleges to randomly visit liquor stores, restaurants and bars across the area to check for compliance with state and local liquor laws.

The businesses that failed the checks were:

A total of 52 businesses were visited during the two-day operation, with 11 prior violators re-tested for compliance.

Those who passed the checks were:

ILCC conducts the checks to enforce the state’s Liquor Control Act, prohibiting the sale of alcohol to anyone under the age of 21. Business owners found to be in violation of the act will be charged with a Class A misdemeanor and fined $500.
