The Sangamon County Democratic Party has begun the process to recommend a candidate to fill a vacancy on the county board.
The search is the result of the resignation of Marc Ayers. He gave up his seat in District 12 effective April 7.
That district takes in the west side of Springfield, all of the Village of Jerome and parts of the Village of Leland Grove.

Interested candidates are asked to submit a resume and cover letter to SangamonDemCB12@gmail.com by 5 p.m. April 24.
Qualified candidates will be contacted about next steps in the process.

Qualified candidates will be asked to meet with members of the county party to discuss qualifications. A recommendation then would be made to board chairman Andy Van Meter.
The party’s hope is to make the recommendation by the first week of May.
