Rockford man charged in hit and run crash that injured girl

A Rockford man has been arrested and charged in connection with a hit and run crash that injured a 15-year-old girl.

Tyrone Cochran, 32, of Rockford was arrested July 1 on charges of failure to report an injury accident and driving with a suspended license, according to a Rockford Police Department news release. He was also arrested on unspecified outstanding warrants.

A teenaged girl riding her bicycle was hit by a vehicle about 6 p.m. June 20 at the intersection of North Second Street and Ethel Avenue. In interviews with news media, the girl said the driver who hit her had run a red light and swerved into her while she was crossing the street.

The girl was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries.
