PEORIA – A local food truck concept is looking to temporarily lease a new space after a fire at its commissary kitchen early Wednesday morning.
Twisted Pasta shared an image of the damaged kitchen just before 8 a.m., noting that they woke up to news of the fire.
“Not a great feeling seeing all your hard work and thousands and thousands of dollars of prep and labor go down the drain,” the restaurant noted on Facebook. “I’m just glad everyone’s okay and our GFS delivery driver caught it early this morning before it got too bad and spread . We are looking for a new commissary in the (meantime).”
The Peoria Fire Department estimated there was $50,000 worth of damage to the property and contents of the building.
A fire crew “encountered a small fire within the building” after being dispatched at around 5:25 a.m., a news release noted. The crew was able to bring the fire under control in three minutes using a hose line.
“Fire crews’ quick action prevented the fire from extending beyond the business of origin,” the release added.
No one was inside the building, and no injuries were reported. Ameren arrived at the location to secure utilities.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to the fire department.
The space – situated at 2244 W. Glen Ave. – will have to remain closed until the Peoria City/County Health Department inspects it. Twisted Pasta owner Kyle Graves relocated to the space from Twin Towers Mall earlier this year.
