The Chicago Bears entered Sunday as the No. 1 seed in the NFC. They’re ending Sunday as the No. 7 seed following their tough loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. The Bears fell to their rivals 28-21 in one of the most exciting games of the weekend in the NFL. The matchup lived up to the hype, even after Chicago got off to a rocky start in the first half.
Early in the game, the Bears fell behind the Packers 14-3 thanks to a pair of Jordan Love touchdowns. The Bears’ offense couldn’t muster much of anything up, and things looked bleak. The second half was a different story, however. Chicago made the necessary adjustments and scored on three straight drives to tie things up at 21-21 midway through the fourth quarter. The Packers responded with a long touchdown drive of their own to take a 28-21 lead with three and a half minutes to go.
Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, who was dicing up Green Bay’s defense in the second half, had one more shot to deliver a blow that would put Chicago in position to win. Despite leading the offense downfield in scoring position, Williams tossed an underthrown pass to tight end Cole Kmet in the end zone that was picked off. The Bears’ winning streak ended at five games, and they got knocked down in the standings.
The game was tough, and many fans are disappointed with either the final play call, the executed pass, or both. Some, however, aren’t hanging their heads and believe good things are still on the horizon for this team with four games to go.
