The LaSalle County coroner has identified the victim of a recent skydiving accident as Dr. Noel Liu of East Peoria.
The 48-year-old dental entrepreneur co-founded Secure Dental and DentVia with his wife, Dr. Nazish Jafri.
Jafri shared news of Liu’s death on his social media pages. On Facebook, the post has garnered more than 130 comments – with many expressing condolences at the sudden loss.
“He lived a life full of fulfillment and satisfaction, always pursuing his passions with enthusiasm and courage,” Jafri wrote in part.
“Noel touched the lives of many with his warmth and enthusiasm, leaving behind cherished memories that will be treasured forever. He was an amazing father, husband, son, brother, and mentor to many.”
LaSalle County Coroner Richard Ploch was called to Skydive Chicago in Ottawa on July 7 following Liu’s death. A forensic investigative autopsy was conducted the following day. Preliminary results are still pending, according to Ploch, and further testing may also be conducted.
The coroner and LaSalle County Sheriff’s office are continuing to review and investigate the skydiving incident. According to a news release, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are assisting.
