Latest injury update on Bears rookie WR Zavion Thomas

The Chicago Bears have been ravaged by injuries through the first two weeks of training camp, and rookie wide receiver Zavion Thomas was the latest to exit Sunday’s practice early.

Thomas suffered a knee injury during a 7-on-7 period, according to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, and he exited practice. Adam Hoge noted that Thomas “briefly grabbed his knee and then walked off with a slight limp.” He didn’t return to practice. But the good news is Thomas isn’t expected to miss much time.

“I’m told he’s dealing with soreness in his knee and is likely day-to-day in his recovery,” Cronin wrote. “He shouldn’t be out long.”

Thomas had been a standout during training camp, where he’s flashed his speed and playmaking ability both on offense and special teams. The third-round rookie has the potential to carve out a nice role for himself in his first season, and the good news is he shouldn’t be impacted by this knee injury for a significant period of time.

Thomas is the latest in a long line of injuries that have happened in the last few days, including receiver Luther Burden III, defensive end Montez Sweat, left tackle Braxton Jones, safety Cam Lewis, linebacker D’Marco Jackson, cornerback Jaylon Jones and, of course, safety Coby Bryant.
