Jaquan Brisker explains how Bears locker room is different this year

Riding the momentum of a three-game winning streak, the Chicago Bears are showing a lot of energy and belief as a unit in all three phases of their football team.

Chicago is also seeing some of their bright young players making more plays this season, including safety Jaquan Brisker, who got his first interception this year against the Washington Commanders, the first one he’s had since September 2024.

For the second straight game, the Bears were able to pull off a victory in the final moments of the game, a narrative that had not been the case for the last several seasons. In Week 4, against the Las Vegas Raiders, cornerback Josh Blackwell blocked the Raiders would be game-winning field goal to preserve the win. Then, against the Commanders, a takeaway by the defense allowed the offense to drive down the field and Jake Moody booted a game-winning field goal.

Those close games have led to players on the Bears believing in themselves and one another, as Brisker spoke about after the win on Monday night.

“Yeah, it’s definitely different in the locker room,” Brisker said. “Like I said, it starts in practice. You can feel it. The energy is different in practice. The way, guys are getting closer, the way we meet without the coaches and things like that, and then the way we communicate on and off the field, it’s amazing. You can tell things are trending up, and guys are believing.”

There’s been much made about how the energy and culture is shifting quickly for this Bears team under head coach Ben Johnson, but they have to keep building on their momentum. It’s nice to see them riding a three-game winning streak, especially after the 10-game losing streak they had last season, but there’s more work to be done before they can become real contenders in the NFC North and conference.
