Oct. 7 is a special day for taco lovers this year, as it’s not only Taco Tuesday, but also National Taco Day.
To celebrate, many national and local chains, including Taco Bell and Del Taco, will be offering deals and freebies to customers.
Here’s where to catch a discount taco in Illinois.
Taco Bell National Taco Day deals
Taco Bell has unveiled its National Taco Day deals, which include $1 Cantina Chicken Soft Tacos given away to members of the Taco Bell Rewards loyalty program in the Taco Bell app.
The drops run every two hours, starting at 11 a.m. CT on Tuesday, Oct. 7, until 9 p.m. The first drop gives you a chance to win one of 500 limited-edition National Taco Day T-shirts. Subsequent drops include 25,000 $1 taco deals available every two hours. The last drop includes 100 chances to win free Taco Tuesdays for a year (100 $160 gift cards available for redemption).
Taco Bell Rewards members can also get $5 off Party Packs all day when they order in the Taco Bell app. DoorDash is also offering a buy-one-get-one-free deal on tacos with deliveries.
Del Taco free tacos and free delivery
From Tuesday, Oct. 7, to Thursday, Oct. 9, customers can get a free The Del Taco with a $10 minimum purchase. Orders must be placed or scanned with the Del Yeah! Rewards app or at deltaco.com. (Save the offer in the “Rewards/Your Offers” section of the app, then either check out or order in person. Limit one offer per guest per day.) Also, if you have registered for the Del Yeah! loyalty program, you can enjoy free delivery every weekend in October (Friday to Sunday).
Jack in the Box free tacos
Members of the Jack Pack Rewards loyalty program can get two free tacos with a $1 minimum order on National Taco Day, Tuesday, Oct. 7.
Moe’s Southwest Grill $2 tacos
Moe’s customers can purchase $2 tacos (limit of three per person) online using their Moe’s Rewards account.
Nestlé National Taco Day giveaway
Get a chance to win a free limited-edition Nestlé Toll House Cookie Taco kit on National Taco Day (10/7). Starting at 1 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Oct. 7, go to the Toll House Cookie giveaway website online to be one of the first 25 winners. The kit includes a Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Roll, Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels, a taco stand and a $25 gift card to cover additional ingredients. Additional giveaways will take place on Nov. 6 and Dec. 4.
Taco John’s free taco
Spend $5 on National Taco Day and scan the Taco John’s app to get a free taco on your next visit (redeemable within two weeks).
Twin Peaks $2 tacos
Get $2 tacos all day long and $6 house margaritas at Twin Peaks on National Taco Day.
Velvet Taco tattoo pop-up, Taco Week Challenge
Members of the Velvet Room loyalty program can take part in the Taco Week Challenge, which runs through Saturday, Oct. 11; when you buy a taco you get a free taco reward Oct. 13, which is redeemable through Oct. 17. You can take part in a giveaway on Velvet Taco’s Instagram account from Tuesday, Oct. 7, to Friday, Oct. 10, with 15 winners getting a gift card for their taco tattoo of choice. Also on Oct. 7, there’s a tattoo pop-up at the Velvet Taco in Dallas (4622 Greenville Ave.); the first guest willing to get the Velvet Taco logo tattooed gets free tacos for a year.
Fat Rosie’s $20 street taco platters
Chicagoland favorite Fat Rosie’s is celebrating National Taco Day with $20 street taco platters and $20 margarita pitchers.
The taco platters will feature ten small corn tortilla tacos with all the fixings, including two each of chicken, carne asada, al pastor, poblano rajas and cochinita pibil. Meanwhile, guests can enjoy pitchers of Fat Rosie’s De La Casa (house) margaritas on the rocks.
Su Taqueria Thaly’s $8 taco deal
Su Taqueria Thaly’s, located in Chicago’s northwest suburbs, is offering three tacos for just $8 on Oct. 7. The deal includes one order per person in-restaurant or through carry-out. Taco options include asada, al pastor, pollo or chorizo.
Tacotlán Tacos National Taco Day party
Tacotlán Tacos in Hermosa is hosting a Taco Day celebration full of music, community and free food. From 5-9 p.m., each attendee can get a free quesabirria while listening to a live DJ.
Mercadito discount tacos
The Chicago restaurant is offering orders of three tacos for $4 from 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and for $9 from 1:30-5:30 p.m on National Taco Day.
Free tacos at Bodega Tacqueria y Tequila
Bodega is celebrating National Taco Day with free tacos for the first 20 guests at its River North and West Loop locations in Chicago.
