Betsy Ross flags have been placed on graves of the soldiers of the American Revolution at the Dennis Village Cemetery. The flags were placed on Tuesday ahead of the Hometown Heroes event on May 16. The Dennis Historical Commission is hosting the event that will include a special plaque dedication.
In honor of the 250th anniversary of American Independence, the town of Dennis will be dedicating the memorial plaque to the the soldiers of the 27 families who fought during the American Revolution.
The event will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. May 16, Armed Services Day. 
In all of the town's cemeteries there are 115 American Revolution soldiers, said Dennis Historical Commission chair Diane Rochelle, who was out helping with the flag placement.
