Illinois High School Association boys track and field sectionals were held Wednesday, May 20.
From each sectional, the top two placers along with qualifying performances advance to the IHSA state finals on May 28-30 at Eastern Illinois University’s O’Brien Stadium in Charleston.
Below are the Peoria-area athletes who earned a spot in the finals, listed by sectional. First and second place winners along with those meeting the qualifying standards advance to the state finals. Qualifying times and distances are in parentheses.
A total of 116 entries from local schools earned spots at state from seven sectionals on May 20. One more Peoria-area sectional — a Class 2A one at Galesburg — on Thursday, May 21 produced 75 entries for a total of 191 Peoria-area state-bound entries.
