Goodwill of Central Illinois is opening a new store in East Peoria.
The nonprofit organization will open the new site at 456 Camp St. on March 18 at 9 a.m. The store will feature a large inventory of merchandise including books, clothing, housewares, and toys. It will accept donations during normal business hours.
“Every purchase and donation you make in central Illinois contributes to our mission of changing the lives of our community members and employees,” said Goodwill of Central Illinois chief executive officer Kent A. Kramer in a news release. “Central Illinois now has access to an even greater number of services. Soon you will see how people are empowered by employment, education, housing and health.”
Goodwill’s programs focus on employment, computer skills courses, providing veterans’ support services, operating a veterans’ home, and providing youth service. The programs are available to the public, as well as Goodwill employees. Goodwill offers employment opportunities for people facing such barriers such as disability, criminal background, or lack of a high school diploma.
The new East Peoria store will employ over 30 people, all of whom will have access to Goodwill’s wraparound services. Wraparound services can provide relief for employees facing unsafe or unreliable housing, food insecurity, or lack of transportation. Goodwill also offers opportunities for employees to increase their education and future employability.
Store hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. More information is available at goodwillpeo.org.
