PEORIA — Iowa State has won the chase for former Bradley Braves guard Jaquan Johnson.
Johnson made an official visit to Iowa State on Saturday and announced he has committed to the Cyclones. He is the first of Bradley’s transferring players to announce a new landing spot.
Johnson was runner-up in voting for Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year after leading the Braves with 16.9 points per game. He was an All-MVC First Team selection and MVC Defensive Player of the Year.
He earned the latter with 85 steals, among the leaders in the nation in that category and one short of the Bradley program record.
The 5-foot-11 point guard, nicknamed “Bully,” will play at Iowa State for head coach T.J. Otzelberger, who is 124-53 in five seasons with the Cyclones with five NCAA Tournament appearances.
BU, which went 21-13 in the 2025-26 season, earned its fourth consecutive trip to the NIT this past season.
Johnson was joined in the portal by Bradley players Montana Wheeler, Demarion Burch, Kai Yu and Handy Toussaint III. Seniors Ahmet Jonovic, Alex Huibregtse, Corey Thomas and A.J. Smith saw their eligibility expired.
