Former Chicago Bears defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson suffered what appeared to be a non contact injury during Buffalo Bills training camp practice on Saturday.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Alex Braskey, Gardner-Johnson “went down, later clutched his leg near his Achilles.” He added that he “couldn’t put any pressure on his right leg as he was helped off the field slowly.”
Braskey noted that Gardner-Johnson has been a standout this summer for Buffalo.
The Bears signed Gardner-Johnson in the middle of last season after Kyler Gordon went down with an injury, and he served in that nickel role for the defense. While he was cut from two different teams earlier in 2025, Gardner-Johnson made an impact in Chicago. In his first two games, he totaled three sacks and he added two interceptions and a forced fumble through the rest of the season.
Gardner-Johnson signed a one-year deal worth $6 million with the Bills this offseason.
