'Dual-identity space' aims to open in Downtown Peoria by August

The Vault aims to open by August in Downtown Peoria, according to NOW Group vice president Beau Landry.

He went before the Peoria Liquor Commission on Monday, May 4, to request a 90-day extension for site approval at the 240 Southwest Jefferson Ave. space. Along with this, the commission also considered – and recommended – the addition of a subclass which would allow for 2 a.m. closing hours.

The Peoria City Council is slated to vote on the subclass during its May 26 meeting. Site approval extensions are approved directly by the commission.

Landry told commissioners the project had encountered “some construction hold ups.” Though he does not anticipate needing the entire extension, the 90-day period will extend site approval for the space into October.

A news release about the business said VAULT Social House + Culture Room will operate as “a dual-identity space.”

“We’re creating something that goes beyond a typical restaurant, bar, or club,” Landry said in the release. “VAULT is about who’s in the room — the conversations happening that are actually influencing change in Peoria, and the energy in the space. Everything about it is designed to feel deliberate.”

The location will operate as a private, members only space during the day, the release said, before opening to the public in a “curated, controlled format” for evening services.
