PEORIA — UFS outlet store is moving from its longtime home on Southwest Adams Street near Downtown Peoria to a North Peoria shopping center, the store announced Tuesday.
The store will leave its location at 1800 SW Adams St. and move to Northpoint Shopping Center at 8901 N. Knoxville Ave., the site of a Big Lots that closed in 2024.
UFS’ third-generation owner called the move a “fresh beginning” and not a “farewell.”
“The decision to leave our location on Adams Street after nearly 60 years was not made lightly,” Gerard Wiegand, owner of UFS, said in a statement. “Since I can remember, Downtown Peoria has been our home andheartbeat. We’re incredibly proud of what our team has built here and we’re deeply grateful for the loyalcustomers who’ve supported us for generations.”
The business opened in 1945 and has been at the Adams Street spot since building it in 1967.
The move will allow more space, improved access and better parking, according to UFS.
Before the Adams Street location closes, a “holiday sale” will be held at the location. “If it’s not bolted down, we’ll make you a deal,” Wiegand said of the sale.
UFS expects to open in the new location in 2026.
