The Chicago Bears battled the Miami Dolphins in their first preseason game, which ended in a 24-24 tie. While Chicago has been mostly lucky with injuries this summer, their first live-game action featured a few notable injuries.
Following Sunday’s game, head coach Ben Johnson provided some injury updates regarding the players who exited during the contest.
Linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga suffered a shoulder injury, running back Travis Homer has a calf injury, cornerback Terell Smith suffered a groin injury, safety Major Burns has a knee injury and offensive lineman Luke Newman is in concussion protocol.
“We’ll see where all those guys stand going forward,” Johnson said after the game, “but that’s kind of the preliminary.”
Those players join a list that already includes the following: Cornerback Kyler Gordon (hamstring), offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie (leg), cornerback Zah Frazier (personal), defensive tackle Shemar Turner (ankle), offensive lineman Bill Murray (ankle) and wide receiver Miles Boykin (ankle).
The Bears are scheduled to practice late Monday afternoon, and Johnson will likely provide any additional updates.
