The Chicago Bears took down the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, winning 31-3 to improve to 10-4. Cleveland, despite their bad record, has kept most of their games close, has a great defense, and plays extremely hard on every snap. Their lack of overall talent on offense is the reason that they are where they are in the standings.
One of the Browns’ three wins was against the Green Bay Packers, who the Bears are battling with for the top spot in the NFC North. The fact that Chicago beat them 31-3 speaks volumes about their abilities on the field. This frigid win was their 10th of the season, bringing them back into first place in the division and second in the NFC.
To get this win, the Bears had to make some big-time plays. These five, in particular, stick out above the rest:
1. D’Andre Swift gets the Bears on the board
The Bears got on the board with this D’Andre Swift rushing touchdown. This was their second drive of the game, as the first one stalled out. But this touchdown was Chicago taking advantage of great field position when they stopped Cleveland pinning them at the one-yard line. This score set the tone for a big offensive explosion.
2. Caleb Williams connects with DJ Moore for first TD
Later in the first quarter, Caleb Williams made a perfect pass to DJ Moore for Chicago’s second touchdown of the game. Going up 14-0 was important, as they started to truly take over the football game. The Browns never really felt like they had a chance to win from that point on.
3. Caleb Williams’ improbable TD pass to DJ Moore
DJ Moore’s first touchdown reception from Caleb Williams was one of Chicago’s prettiest of the season. Somehow, they found a way to outdo themselves as the pair had this connection in the second half. Williams made an historically improbable throw, threading the needle for the score and extending their lead to 21-3.
4. D’Andre Swift’s second TD run
Like the Caleb Williams to DJ Moore connection, D’Andre Swift found his way running into the end zone a second time. This one took some big-time skill and effort as Swift bulldozed defenders for the 17-yard score. For all intents and purposes, the Bears all but put the game away with this touchdown.
5. C.J. Gardner-Johnson records Bears’ 30th takeaway
The Bears had three takeaways in this win, including interceptions by Jaylon Johnson and D’Marco Jackson. However, C.J. Gardner-Johnson gets the spotlight because this is Chicago’s 30th takeaway of the season. They are averaging two a game, which is the best in the NFL. Everyone on defense stepped up in this one, and the scoreboard reflects that.
