Chicago Bears training camp is in full swing ahead of the 2026 regular season. Under second-year head coach Ben Johnson, the Bears are looking to build on their success from last year and keep pace in a crowded NFC with important meetings and practices at Halas Hall.
The Bears held their second practice on camp on Thursday, once again without pads, and it seems like the offense is ahead of the defense for once. There were a few big plays that took place while certain players continue to rotate at specific positions on both sides of the ball.
Following every Bears training camp practice, we at Bears Wire will highlight the top players who stood out on the field. Here are the players who stood out on Day 2 of practice:
1. WR Kalif Raymond
If there is a star of the day, it’s wide receiver Kalif Raymond. The former Detroit Lion who signed with the Bears back in March is establishing a nice connection with both Caleb Williams and Tyson Bagent. Raymond was on the receiving end of the biggest play of the day, where he hauled in a 54-yard pass from Williams in 11-on-11s over cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, according to CHGO’s Adam Jahns. Other reporters in attendance, such as Bear Report’s Zack Pearson and CHGO’s Mark Carman, observed Raymond making plenty of catches during other drills as well. It was a good day for the seasoned veteran.
2. TE Colston Loveland
Second-year tight end Colston Loveland made his presence known on Thursday with a few catches, including a diving reception from Williams during practice. Pearson notes Loveland made the grab while rookie safety Dillon Thieneman was in coverage. Hopes are high for Loveland going into his second season, and he’s set to be a focal point of the offense after a big rookie year. Expect to see more plays like the diving grab he made on Thursday when the regular season begins.
3. S Coby Bryant
The defense didn’t have the best day on Thursday, but there were still notable plays made, particularly by safety Coby Bryant. According to FOX 32’s Devan Kaney, Bryant disrupted a pass play when he batted down a ball during 11-on-11s and was all over the field. Bryant’s versatility stood out from his days with the Seattle Seahawks, and it would seem the Bears plan to utilize him all over the place this upcoming season.
