In a panicked, desperate 911 call, a woman reports the moments after an assailant killed two women as a child yells for his mother in the background.
Two women, ages 25 and 29, were fatally shot in a home on North Ninth Street in Immokalee on the morning of July 10. The suspect, 25-year-old Lorenzo Ray Coleman Jr., was arrested later that day in Lehigh Acres and charged with two counts of second-degree murder with a firearm, child abuse and grand theft auto.
He is being held without bond at the Collier County jail. The 25-year-old victim was identified by family members as Eliza Torres. The other victim, who has not been publicly identified, is referred to as R.R. in court documents.
According to a 911 call recently released by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, a female caller’s panic escalates in the more than 5-minute recording as she tried to figure out the address of the home and tell dispatchers what happened.
“I don’t know the address,” the caller told dispatchers at the beginning of the call, later repeatedly calling out to another person inside the house asking what the address is.
“They’re not moving, they’re not responsive,” the caller said with increasing panic after the dispatcher asked if she needed an ambulance. “They look like they’ve been shot.”
A child witnessed the murders, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
A child’s voice can be heard in the background of the 911 call screaming “mom” as the caller cries, pleading with dispatchers to come help because the women aren’t moving.
The dispatchers repeatedly instructed the caller not to hang up.
“They’re not breathing, they’re not moving,” the caller screamed, repeatedly saying “what the (expletive).”
When the dispatcher asked how old the victims were, the caller couldn’t say.
“I don’t know right now, I can’t even think,” she said through sobs.
The dispatcher then asked how many people were in the house and told them to go outside. The caller said it was just her and another person, whose name was blocked out in the recording.
“He’s in my car, he’s freaking out,” the caller said about the other person. “I don’t know what happened.”
When the dispatcher asked if the victims were beyond help, the caller started sobbing and screaming as the dispatcher tried to have her take deep breaths.
Another person, whose voice was different than the child’s can be heard screaming in the background.
“He had a gun, so I don’t know what really (expletive) happened,” the caller said. “His name is Lorenzo, I don’t know. I don’t know.”
She repeatedly said “I don’t know” between sobs as the phone call broke up.
Toward the end of the call, a man’s voice, potentially the police, instructs the woman to step outside.
About five minutes and 15 seconds into the call, the line went silent.
Coleman is being held without bond until further notice as he works on retaining a private lawyer. His next hearing, an arraignment, is scheduled for Aug. 10.
