Winners and losers from FSU's game vs St. John's?

FSU baseball suffered a damaging blow to its postseason, losing 6-5 to the St. John’s Red Storm in the Tallahassee Regional opener. They are now on the cusp of having their season end rather early.

In a game that saw everything from a two-hour rain delay to FSU hitting a homer on the first pitch in the first inning, it was a game where the Seminoles could not close it out in the end.

Despite a 5-2 lead in the eighth, the Red Storm scored three runs in the eighth and had held FSU scoreless from the sixth inning on. They added another run in the ninth to pull ahead and stun the Seminoles.

The Seminoles are now on a three-game losing streak after a loss to Miami to end the regular season, being bounced from the ACC Tournament in their first game, and now, this St. John’s loss.

While FSU suffered a crushing loss, they did have some good performances. Here are the winners and losers from FSU’s game against St. John’s.

Winner: Brayden Dowd

Dowd had two RBI and three hits in Friday’s game; he was a difference maker in a game that sorely needed offensive help.

Winner: Gabe Fraser

Fraser hit his first home run of the season, so we had to show him some love. Enjoy it, Fraser.

Winner: Northern Illinois

NIU doesn’t have to face FSU, which would’ve happened if the Seminoles won. They now have an easier path to winning the region, as they defeated Coastal Carolina.

Loser: The Pitching Rotation

FSU’s ERA of 5.00 this game, as well as in the two prior games, was 7.00, which has not been good enough to earn them victories. FSU used four different pitchers, with Bryson Moore, Chris Knier, John Abraham, and Cole Stokes.
