Heading to the Florida coast over Memorial Day holiday? Enjoy ocean breeze

All three days over the Memorial Day weekend will be pretty much the same, said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Brett Anderson via email.

“Expect typical late May partly sunny, hot and humid conditions each afternoon with highs in the low to mid 90s away from the coast with slightly cooler conditions along the Florida East Coast with a steady ocean breeze.

“Also, there may be an elevated risk for strong rip currents along the East Coast this weekend.

“There is the chance for an early-morning shower along the East Coast before they move inland and form into isolated afternoon thunderstorms each day across the central portion of the Peninsula. A couple of these storms may eventually reach the west coast of Florida late each day,” Anderson said.

“The highest risk for thunderstorms each day will be across the western Panhandle, especially in the Pensacola area, where we may see some heavy, drenching thunderstorms each day and evening.

“Keep in mind, much of the state remains under extreme drought and any rainfall will be beneficial.”
