What is cut line at Masters? Will Bryson DeChambeau miss the cut?

We’re monitoring the cut line at the Masters 2026 to see which PGA Tour and LIV Golf stars are in line to make or miss the cut.

Two favorites heading into Augusta National might not make it to the weekend. Bryson DeChambeau, a two-time major champion in search of his first green jacket, shot a 4-over 76 in Round 1, below the projected cut line. He missed consecutive cuts in 2022 and 2023 but finished tied for sixth and tied for fifth in the past two Masters. Jon Rahm, his LIV Golf compatriot and the 2023 Masters champ, came into Round 2 in even worse shape.

Ethan Fang did the best of the six amateurs in the first round. If he makes the cut, will Mason Howell or any others challenge him for low amateur? Viktor Hovland, Sungjae Im and Min Woo Lee are among the PGA Tour stars in jeopardy heading into today’s round, as are former Masters champs Zach Johnson, Bubba Watson and the immortal Fred Couples. Keep scrolling for the latest from the cut line, and check in throughout the day for the latest.

Masters cut line

As of 5:40 p.m., the projected cut line at the Masters was 4 over par. Players with a score of +4 or better would qualify for the weekend’s third and fourth rounds if the current cut line holds to the end of Round 2. Projections from DataGolf estimate the final cut line will remain at 4 over.

Will Bryson DeChambeau make the cut at the Masters?

He’s won two U.S. Opens, but Bryson DeChambeau has never finished higher than fifth at the Masters. He was a favorite entering the tournament, but a disastrous triple-bogey 7 on the par-4 11th led to a 4-over 76 in his first round. The LIV Golf star didn’t start his second round well, driving into a bunker on the first hole en route to a bogey, then hitting into another on No. 2. He saved par there, then got a birdie on No. 3. After consecutive birdies on holes 7 and 8, DeChambeau was in good position, but his drive on No. 13 went into the pine needles, and his second shot flew out of play, leading to a bogey 6. He finished at 6 over, missing the projected cut line by two strokes.

Will Jon Rahm miss the cut at the Masters?

LIV golfer and 2023 Masters champion Jon Rahm was the second favorite behind only Scottie Scheffler entering Augusta, but the Spaniard ran into trouble early and often in his first round, hitting four bogeys on the front nine with a double-bogey 7 on the 13th to finish the day 6 over par. Birdies on No. 2 and No. 5 today helped, but a brutal spin on his approach and a lip-out on his par putt on No. 9 left him in a precarious position. A beautifully struck shot on the par-3 16th offered a birdie putt to end his day at 4 over for the tournament, right on the projected cut line.

Will any amateurs make Masters cut?

Six amateurs are part of the Masters field, including 18-year-old reigning U.S. Amateur champion Mason Howell and 39-year-old real estate broker Brandon Holtz. Tennessee sophomore Jackson Herrington and Ethan Fang, NCAA champion at Oklahoma State and winner of the 2025 Amateur Championship at Royal St George’s, entered play Friday with the best chances to play for the low amateur title this weekend.

It’s unlikely any will make the cut and qualify for the Low Amateur award. However, Howell did come inches from making a hole-in-one on the 12th. Here’s the amateur leaderboard:

Harry Hall goes on run, could make Masters cut

It wasn’t looking good for England’s Harry Hall, bogeying three of his first seven holes after going 5 over in the first round. But Hall conquered Amen Corner, running off four straight birdies from No. 11 to No. 14 to put him back in play to make the cut, but he bogeyed the last two holes to finish his round at 5 over for the tournament, just over the projected cut line.

Will Fred Couples make the cut at the Masters?

It seemed impossible, but 66-year-old Fred Couples was once again in play to qualify for the weekend in his 41st Masters. The winner of the 1992 green jacket got off to a blazing start in 2025 before falling flat in Round 2 to miss the cut. He last made the cut in 2023. Couples faltered at the end of his first round by going +8 over his final three holes, and despite two birdies on the front nine in Round 2, he hit his tee shot on the par-3 11th into the water. He closed the round with another bogey on No. 18, leaving him at 9 over for the tournament. He’ll miss the cut.

What is the cut line?

After two rounds in a professional golf tournament, the field of players typically gets trimmed down to only the players within about 10 strokes of the leader. That helps to focus the attention on only the players who have a shot at winning the tournament. The cut line is the score to par that players must reach in order to qualify for the third and fourth rounds. It’s a line that is subject to change throughout the course of Round 2 in order to reflect players’ scores throughout the day.

How many players make the cut at the Masters?

Of the 91 golfers who entered the tournament, 50 are guaranteed to make the cut and play this weekend. That number can grow to account for ties. Last year, 53 players made the cut at 2 over par.
