Season 10 of Netflix’s “Love is Blind” follows a new group of singles from Ohio as they “cut through the static of modern dating” and develop deep relationships without seeing each other. The first nine episodes of the new season were released on Netflix on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Although this season is set in Ohio, there is one controversial contestant on the show, Alex Henderson, who used to live in Florida. And his desire to move back to the Sunshine State became a sticking point between Henderson and his love interest.

Who is Alex Henderson? Is he a Florida native?
Alex Henderson, 31, is a financial sales professional and former soccer goalie from West Lake, Ohio. While he is not a native Floridian, he has stated on the show multiple times that he used to live in Florida and would be open to moving back.
Years before the show, Henderson was a college soccer star who played in multiple NCAA Tournaments and was a second-round draft pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft.
Henderson revealed the story of his MLS draft process on the third episode of “Love Is Blind” season 10, revealing that he had four knee surgeries at the “wrong time.”
Instead of flying to Los Angeles for the draft, Henderson said, he was sitting on a couch with his college soccer teammates with his leg in a cast and was on Percocet, presumably for knee pain.
In the end, Henderson was drafted in the second round, No. 23, by Minnesota United FC, but was never signed by the team.
“It was not exactly how I dreamt it up,” Henderson said. “The fourth knee surgery came through after the team that drafted me said, ‘Hey, you’re not going to play again.'”
In his post-athletic career, he has led a “nomadic” life, traveling around the world.
Why did Alex Henderson go by ‘Alec Ferrell’?
LIB fans who have done their deep dives into the contestants have expressed confusion over Henderson going by the name “Alec Ferrel” while competing in soccer.
According to The Tab, he was born “Alex Henderson” but had his name changed by his former stepfather to “Alec Ferrell.” He voiced his strained relationship with his stepfather, and once his mother divorced him, he went back to his original name.

Henderson gets engaged to a 34-year-old claims manager, Ashley Carpenter. The pair formed an emotional bond while in the pods, which translated into physical chemistry during their trip in Mexico.
However, Henderson sparked controversy online in the sixth episode, when he told fellow contestant Brittany Wicker that she is more his “usual type” than Ashley at a couples pool party while in Cabo.
“I do like darker features, I like certain things in my woman,” Henderson told Wicker about his fiancée in the episode. “I’m still trying to gauge whether the physical matches the emotional [connection]. … I’m comfortable saying, ‘OK, it’s not it.’ And I don’t have a problem with it. I will break your heart to your face.”
Moving to Florida big plotline in ‘Love is Blind’ season 10
Following their proposal and exit from “pod dating,” the show has focused on Henderson’s desire to live outside of Ohio. He told Carpenter that he would be open to settling down roots in either Arizona or Florida.
This becomes a slight issue between the pair, since Carpenter is not able to change jobs as easily as he can, and mentions she was hoping to get a promotion at her current company. She adds that she is open to moving to another state, but she just can’t move as quickly as he would like.
He also mentions that he was offered a role as a soccer coach in Southwest Florida. As of episode nine, viewers do not know if he took the job or has moved to Florida.
