If the School Board approves, then Superintendent of Schools Danielle Brewer’s proposed moves for principal changes will take effect for the 2026-27 school year.
The superintendent’s proposed moves come due to retirements and district-level moves, according to a Marion County Public Schools news release.
Authorities said the changes will affect nine schools and approximately 7,000 students. Five of the nine schools are receiving first-time principals.
School officials said 54 positions will be cut from the district’s staffing plan this year. They also said seven assistant principal positions will be eliminated from next year’s staffing plan because of site-base budgeting by school. District officials said the moves are cost-savings measures.
