The Miami Hurricanes hope to repeat last season’s performance – with one more win. That journey to return to the College Football Playoff championship game starts this week in Coral Gables with preseason practice.
Where will the Hurricanes be ranked heading into the season? That question will be answered on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at noon, when USA TODAY Sports unveils the preseason US LBM Coaches Top 25 live on YouTube.

Fans can watch the poll release on USA TODAY Sports’ YouTube page. The show will include analysis from USA Today college football experts Blake Toppmeyer, Matt Hayes and Paul Myerberg, along with a special guest during the poll reveal.
Miami came out on top of the preseason poll chosen by nearly 200 media members at the 2026 ACC Media Kickoff last month. The Canes beat second-place SMU by 365 points in the poll. Of 188 possible votes, UM earned 165 first-place nods. Clemson came in a distant second with seven.
Coach Mario Cristobal reloaded the roster after leading UM to the CFP national championship game last season where the Canes fell to Indiana in Miami Gardens. Duke transfer Darian Mensah replaces Carson Beck (now with the Arizona Cardinals) at quarterback and will have record-setting receiver Malachi Toney and punishing running back Mark Fletcher Jr. returning on offense. Damon Wilson II leads a refueling of the nation’s best pass-rushing defense that saw stars Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor selected in the first round of the 2026 NFL draft.
