The history of local boat-building company, Whiticar Boat Works, is displayed on a wall near the entrance of Stringers Tavern & Oyster Bar on Thursday, May 6, 2021, in Stuart. Martin County native Frederic "Fritz" Ayres also owns Conchy Joe's Seafood and Dolphin Bar and Shrimp House, both in Jensen Beach. Ayres strived to capture the local boating history in the restaurant. "We thought the space could look like the interior of a boat," said Ayres. "We also dove into the history as far as the boat-building in the area and we have displays for all the major boat-builders." The restaurant opens Monday for dinner service.
