The Jacksonville Jaguars were on the practice field Wednesday for their first training camp practice and so was Travis Hunter for his first practice of 2026.
Hunter did not take part in practices during offseason programs as he continued to rehab from last season’s knee injury.
So where was Hunter lined up during Wednesday’s practice?
Despite heavy outside speculation on what Hunter’s role would be this season, the Jaguars have remained firm in their stance that he would continue to be a two-way player.
Hunter took the practice field in a teal offensive jersey and went through some warm-up periods with the wide receivers.
Hunter then transitioned over to cornerback and went through some defensive back drills.
Hunter then played on both sides of the ball during the team periods of practice. Jamal St. Cyr of News4Jax noted that Hunter had “tight coverage” on rookie wide receiver Josh Cameron on a deep ball from Nick Mullens that ended in an incompletion in an 11-on-11 period.
Trevor Lawrence then targeted Hunter in a 7-on-7 drill. According to St. Cyr, Hunter went up to get the ball, but lost it on the way down.
“It was good. Obviously would have liked to see us complete that one to him on the sideline,” Coen said after practice, “but I was pleased to see him go up and just try to make a nice play. I thought he had a couple good reps on defense in one-on-one situations in press and I think we’ll be able to connect on that route and get him some touches as we go through and they build more of a connection and chemistry.”
Coen said that Hunter has put on 10 pounds of muscle during the offseason.
