A waterfront mansion in the southern reaches of West Palm Beach is the most expensive single-family home sold in the city this year.
The two-story gated house at 7810 South Flagler Drive in SoSo — the part of West Palm Beach that lies south of Southern Boulevard — sold for $18.25 million on June 23. It sits on nearly 1 acre and faces more than 100 feet of the Intracoastal Waterway.
The house, which was built five years ago, has five bedrooms and six and one-half bathrooms in its more than 7,300 square feet.
It features floor-to-ceiling glass in every room that overlooks the water and an atrium with 25-foot ceilings. It has a resort-style pool lined with royal palm trees and the largest deck and private boat dock in the neighborhood.
What’s inside the house?
Something for wine connoisseurs: The house includes a warehouse-sized wine cooler that fits more than 900 bottles of wine.
It also has an elevator, an office, a private guest apartment, a three-car garage, an outdoor kitchen and dining areas and a paved auto courtyard with room for more than 20 cars.
The house was sold by Palm Beach attorney John J. Raymond Jr. and his wife, Beverlee Miller Raymond.
The deed listed the buyer as 7810 S Flagler WPB LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. Because of Delaware’s corporate privacy laws, no other information about anyone directly linked to the buyer’s side of the sale was immediately available in public records.
The lofty price tag nears — but is not quite as high — as the city record for a single-family home sale at $21 million. The South Flagler Drive house was originally listed at $25.5 million last year, but the price dropped by millions before it sold.
Still, the neighborhood is evidence that wealth is not just reserved for Palm Beach. It is spilling across the Lake Worth Lagoon.
Is West Palm Beach still seen as the island’s subpar neighbor? Not so, according to agent Samantha Curry of Douglas Elliman Real Estate, who represented the buyer.
“Buyers remain highly motivated to secure exceptional waterfront properties, and estates of this caliber continue to command premium pricing,” wrote Curry in a prepared statement. “West Palm Beach has shed its old reputation as the alternative choice to the island, and is now seen among global elite as a primary destination.”
