Week 4 HS football predictions: Choctaw-PF, Niceville-Crestview, SoWal-Arnold & more

Predicting high school football games will always be a polarizing venture.

Last year my Niceville-Mosley prediction proved to be bulletin board material for Tommy Joe Whiddon’s crew, who reminded me how wrong I was following the 37-28 win at their house. To be fair, though, Niceville got the last laugh as the Dolphins closed the season 0-2 with a region quarterfinal exit as the Eagles advanced to the Final 4.

This past week I was called out again. While I nailed Niceville’s 35-14 win at Pine Forest and went a collective 5-1, I missed the mark on Choctaw’s defense, who I thought would allow a couple of home run plays in a 31-21 win over Crestview. Instead they shut the Bulldogs out 28-0 to prolong their scoreless streak to nine quarters. Defensive coordinator Terrence Brooks let me know the Big Green felt disrespected, and I acknowledged that even when i get the winner right, I can still be wrong.

Three weeks in, though, I haven’t been wrong much. My win percentage is .810, so let’s keep the good times rolling. Here are this week’s picks as all 10 area teams are in action, led off by some Thursday night football by Fort Walton Beach at Steve Riggs Stadium.

Week 4 Picks (17-4 on season, 5-1 last week)
