Was Florida Brightline Christmas parade float funny or insensitive? Vote

A nonprofit charity’s float in the Stuart Christmas Parade is making rounds on social media because of its divisiveness.

The float featured a Brightline train with the tagline, “Grandma got run over by a Brightline,” a spin on the 1979 Christmas song “Grandma got run over by a reindeer.”

The float belonged to the Philip DeBerard Family Foundation, run by a Stuart personal injury attorney.

The float won two awards in the Dec. 5 parade: judge’s choice and classic Christmas large float.

Some social media commenters have loved its dark humor while others are offended or conflicted by joking about Brightline fatalities.
