The upcoming Walmart Supercenter on State Road 100 is one step closer to being built.
During a June 17 meeting, the Palm Coast Planning and Land Development Regulation Board voted unanimously to recommend approval of the site plan, which includes a total of 242,000 square feet of retail space.
The approximately 185,000-square-foot Walmart store will anchor the development.
The project will also include approximately 55,000 square feet of additional retail space, as well as a “1,618-square-foot convenience store with 12 double-sided fueling stations and canopy,” according to staff.
The developer must address a few pending requirements before staff can issue development and construction permits for the project. Those include contributions to the city’s tree fund, transportation impact fees, and regulatory requirements from the Florida Department of Transportation.
Some of those could be resolved when the site plan goes before the City Council for approval in July.
Where will Walmart Supercenter be located along SR 100 in Palm Coast?
Walmart’s next supercenter will be located on an approximately 38-acre piece of land, just north of the Flagler Executive Airport on the eastbound side of State Road 100.
The City Council rezoned the property in November 2025. It is owned by Flagler Pines Properties LLC, itself owned by Flagler County Property Appraiser James “Jay” Gardner Jr. Flagler Venture, LLC, a subsidiary, is listed as the project applicant.
Michael Hanson, a senior planner with the city, said staff has worked with the developer to include “more architectural features to dress up the building.”
“Additional window treatments, blinds, cornices, additional parapets, and ultimately further architectural features,” Hanson said.
The project also includes a temporary wastewater treatment plant on the northwest part of the property “to accommodate the usage for the site,” Hanson said.
The developer will be responsible for operating and maintaining the treatment plant until the city’s utility capacity is available and can accommodate the site’s water usage, Hanson said.
HomeGoods, Barnes & Noble, more also coming to SR 100 in Palm Coast
Not far from the upcoming Walmart Supercenter, other retailers are bringing their businesses to Palm Coast’s growing commercial scene on State Road 100.
The planning board in March approved the site plan for a commercial building on the northeast section of Palm Coast Landing. Among the possible stores are Barnes & Noble, HomeGoods and Five Below. The developer showed a concept photo of the three stores during a presentation to the board, but they weren’t mentioned by name.
Besides its popular Target store, Palm Coast Landing at Town Center features other big box stores, such as TJ Maxx, Ross and Michaels.
Another project is bringing businesses to a shopping center on the corner of State Road 100 and Belle Terre Boulevard. Five confirmed tenants include 7 Brew Coffee, Heartland Dental, GoodVets, an urgent care facility and a liquor store.
