Last week Niceville’s Delaney Diehl joined classmates Abbey Kuritz, Camrin Pearson, Teray Geiger and Jakobe Gilyard, FWB’s Brian Velazquez, Sawyer Downs and Diandre Mayes, South Walton’s AK Wickman, Connor Rooney and Maci Jones, Paxton’s Borgesen, Cade Stewart and Kenzie Lassiter, Choctaw’s Camry Johnson, Carter Marracco, Tamen Zabetakis and Jordan Figueroa, Navarre’s Maleeya Brammer, Walton’s Kaden Fuentes and Whitton West, Baker’s Wyatt Straight, Crestview’s Manwell Robinson and Trey Hardman and Freeport’s Emily Doi as past NWF Daily News AOTW winners. Athlete of the Week Nominees
CJ Bolden, Niceville: In a pair of wins for unbeaten Niceville, the senior went a collective 5-for-8 with seven runs scored, five stolen bases, two hit by pitches and an RBI.
Coleman Borthwick, South Walton: In wins over Arnold and Lincoln, the senior went a collective 7-for-7 with eight RBIs, five runs scored, four doubles, a pair of home runs and a walk, all while tossing three no-hit innings and striking out four to earn the win over Lincoln.
Juanma Cotes, FWB: The senior sent the Vikings to the Final 4, his left-footer in overtime lifting FWB to a 2-1 region title win over Wakulla.
Jack Marracco, Choctawhatchee: The sophomore no-hit Booker T. Washington in a 15-0 win, striking out eight over four innings and falling just short of a perfect game after issuing just one walk.
Michelle Melancon, Niceville: The senior delivered two goals in a 3-0 region title win over Bartram Trail.
Alexis Smith, FWB: The junior put up a 10-point, 14-rebound double-double to help lift the Vikings into the Elite 8 with a 48-43 win over Rickards.
