UCF made the NCAA softball tournament for the sixth straight season, extending its program-record streak despite a one-and-done showing last week in Oklahoma City.
The Knights (38-16-1) were drawn as the No. 2 seed in the Tallahassee Regional, grouped together with top-seeded Florida State, Jacksonville State and Stetson.
Double-elimination regional play will begin May 15 and run through the weekend. UCF will start against Jax State at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Kansas rallied from a 4-0 second-inning deficit to upend the Knights 6-5 in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Conference tournament on May 7 at Devon Park. Beth Damon hit her team-leading 16th home run, adding another to the program’s single-season record (67).
Isabella Vega, the team’s pitching ace, allowed three hits, two walks and two earned runs in 4⅔ innings.
Last year, UCF won two games in Austin, eliminating both Eastern Illinois and Michigan before bowing out to eventual national champion Texas. The Knights have made it to Super Regionals only once (2022), earning the No. 16 national seed and taking advantage of a home regional in Orlando.
