UCF is back in the NCAA baseball tournament for the second time in its three-year Big 12 history.
The Knights (31-21) secured the No. 2 seed in the Auburn Region, where they will open against North Carolina State at 6 p.m. on May 29. The winner will meet either the host Tigers or fourth-seeded Milwaukee for a spot in the regional final.
This will be UCF’s first regional outside of Florida in 25 years.
It set a new high mark with 19 wins against Big 12 opponents, including a regular-season sweep of Oklahoma State and a road series triumph against West Virginia. The Knights earned the No. 4 seed in the conference’ postseason tournament but lost to Oklahoma State 12-6 in the quarterfinal round.
In February, UCF was picked to finish 10th in the league’s preseason poll.
