A Fort Pierce Police officer about 11:51 p.m. went to an address in the 5000 block of Okeechobee Road regarding a vehicle said to have fled law enforcement.

An officer tried to stop the vehicle after it reportedly ran a stop sign at Avenue M and North 17th Street.

Meanwhile, another officer reported a man identified as Fort “had just rammed his patrol car.”

Fort’s Chevrolet was “pushed into the front of (an officer’s) marked patrol car, actively spinning the tires to the point they were smoking,” an affidavit states.

Investigators said Fort reversed his Chevrolet into a building and into a St. Lucie County Sheriff’s deputy’s patrol vehicle. Fort wound up being blocked in.

Police stated Fort wouldn’t respond to their commands, and they used a baton to break out a window in his Chevrolet.

He ultimately was taken into custody after being shocked with a Taser device.

Investigators reported finding a BB gun on Fort.

Fort was held June 16 in the St. Lucie County Jail on $29,000 bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
