Two teens at a Naples mall kicked and beat a 15-year-old girl twice, taking her shoes and demanding a necklace after showing her a gun.
About 7 p.m. June 21, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy approached the girl at the Coastland Center Mall and asked her for information about an acquaintance, who the suspects had previous altercations with, according to the Naples Police Department.
The Naples Daily News does not typically name minors accused of crimes.
The suspects approached the victim again after the initial exchange and demanded she give them her necklace, to which she refused.
After one of the suspects flashed a firearm concealed in his waistband and demanded the necklace a second time, the victim refused again.
One of the suspects then grabbed the victim’s necklace, still on her neck, and threw her down.
The suspects briefly walked away, returned, and one of them lifted the girl and threw her back down, hitting and kicking her. They also removed the victim’s shoes and damaged other personal property, according to the Naples Police Department.
The suspects then fled toward Fleishmann Park, across the street from Coastland Center Mall, where a witness observed them both point firearms at her vehicle as they ran through the park.
Police arrested both suspects were arrested and transported to the Naples Jail Center.
According to the Naples Police Department, there has been an increased number of violent incidents involving juveniles, including a shooting in the area of Seagate Beach.
The Naples Police Department urges parents to supervise and guide their minor children to prevent delinquency, and reminds parents that they can be held legally responsible for the actions of their juvenile children.
