The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to make their lone prime-time appearance this season on Monday night, and all eyes should be on rookie Travis Hunter.
Jacksonville’s No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and the reigning Heisman Trophy winner has officially reached the 100-snap milestone at both of his positions: wide receiver and cornerback. Despite the Jaguars’ plans for Hunter to play a bigger role on offense his rookie season, injuries thrust him into taking more defensive snaps in Weeks 2 and 3.

So far, Hunter has had somewhat of a minimal impact on both sides of the ball: 13 catches for 118 yards and zero touchdowns on offense, and 11 tackles with one pass break-up on defense.
Hunter has only played four games at the pro level, and both he and quarterback Trevor Lawrence are still adapting to new head coach Liam Coen’s offensive scheme. There are still more than a dozen games left for Hunter to make a bigger mark as a rookie.
Here’s what to know about how the Jaguars’ unique, two-way player has fared through four weeks of action:
Travis Hunter snap counts
Hunter has played more snaps on offense than on defense so far this year. Through four weeks, here’s his snap count share has balanced out at his two positions according to PFF:
Notably, Hunter played more snaps on defense than offense in both Weeks 2 and 3. He had 43 cornerback snaps to 42 wide receiver snaps in Week 2, then 43 cornerback to 37 wide receiver snaps in Week 3.
Travis Hunter PFF grades
Pro Football Focus has graded Hunter’s 260 snaps on both sides of the ball. So far, Hunter’s grades show that he’s performed better on the defensive side of the ball – albeit in a smaller sample size.
Both overall and in specific situational breakdowns, Hunter has graded out as a better player on defense than he has on offense. PFF’s grade of Hunter’s run defense is especially notable.
