Florida State softball (46-8, 18-3) returns to Harrington Athletics Village to take on No. 2 seed Clemson (43-12, 19-5) in the ACC championship on Saturday. FSU will seek its 20th conference title in program history.
FSU is coming off a 3-2 victory over No. 4 Duke in the semifinals. Before that, it defeated Georgia Tech in the semifinals.
While Clemson made it through the conference finals by beating No. 7 Virginia, 7-4, and then No. 3 Virginia Tech in a thrilling comeback after being down 9-2, overcoming the weather conditions.
If victorious, it will be the first time since 2023 that the Seminoles have won the regular-season and ACC championship. With the No. 3-ranked RPI, the Seminoles are favored to be one of the top eight seeds to host regional and super regional.
The Selection Sunday is at 7 p.m.

Clemson makes a late comeback in the top seven after Kylee Johnson hits a two-run home run to give the Tigers their first lead. This was FSU’s first unearned run allowed today.
Jazzy Francik closes it out for FSU softball
After walking one batter to first base, Lonni Alameda makes another pitching change in the top seven. Freshman pitcher Jazzy Francik will close out the game, in hopes of earning her ninth save on the season.
Apsel finished the day with five strikeouts, allowing two walks and no runs.

FSU softball’s defense has not allowed a hit in the last four innings. Michaela Edenfield ended the top fifth by catching Clemson’s Kennedy Ariail stealing second base was out. Julia Apsel has five strikeouts for the Seminoles.

Hallie Wacaser blasts solo home run to give FSU softball its first score
After going scoreless in the last two innings, FSU finally broke free with a solo home run by Hallie Wacaser. The Seminoles are on the board and lead 1-0 in the bottom third.
This is Wacaster’s seventh home run on the season, 77 for the Seminoles all year.

FSU dodged a bullet in the top second. After Clemson loaded the bases, shortstop Isa Torres made a leaping catch on a pop-up fly to get Alex Brown out and to end the inning.

FSU leaves the Clemson runners stranded as they remain scoreless at the bottom of the second. Ashtyn Danley has two strikeouts, allowed two walks, and two hits so far.

ACC championship pushed back due to inclement weather
FSU softball announced on Saturday morning that the ACC championship has been pushed back to 3 p.m. due to inclement weather. Its initial schedule was 2:30 p.m. Weather has played a factor throughout the ACC tournament.

On Saturday, the ACC semifinals were played at an earlier time because of the weather conditions.

According to Weather.com, the temperature in the Brighton, Boston area is expected to be 58 degrees at 3 p.m. It will be cloudy with a 15 percent rain chance, 74 percent humidity and northwest 14 miles per hour wind.
