Titusville voters winnowed down the crowded City Council Seat 1 and 5 races to two finalists each, Brevard County Supervisor of Elections unofficial results show.
Four candidates were vying for election in Titusville’s Seat 1 race: incumbent Vice Mayor Herman A. Cole, Darcia Bair, Elizabeth Baker and John Dacko. Cole and Baker should advance to a runoff in the November general election.
With all nine Titusville precincts reporting, Cole held a narrow lead with 29.87% of the vote (2,646 votes) over Baker, who claimed 28.36% (2,512 votes). Bair had 23.08% (2,044 votes), while Dacko took 18.69% (1,656 votes).
The Seat 5 race candidates were Christopher Childs, David Hobart and Kayla Manning. Manning took 43.05% of the vote (3,779 votes) to advance to a November runoff with Childs, who received 36.86% of the vote (3,236 votes). Hobart took 20.08% (1,763 votes).
The Nov. 3 general-election runoff is also when Titusville voters will decide the City Council Seat 3 race between incumbent Megan Moscoso and Tim Curtis.
Titusville council members earn $12,022 per year during their four-year nonpartisan terms. Candidates are elected at-large, meaning city voters pick candidates for all seats rather than seats within specific geographic districts.
