The TGL Finals match – featuring the return of Tiger Woods to competitive golf – was the most watched telecast of the league’s second season, second-most across both seasons.
The Los Angeles Golf Club’s 9-2 victory over Tiger’s Jupiter Links Golf Club on March 24 averaged 989,000 viewers, 78 percent more than the finals match from Season 1 when Atlanta defeated New York. The average viewers watching on ESPN exceeded 1 million (1.09M) between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m., peaking with 1.15 million average viewers per minute.
Of course, if Tiger could have led Jupiter to victory over LA in the first match of the night, forcing a third and deciding match, those ratings likely would have been even higher.
Even with Tiger missing all of the season until this week while recovering from back surgery, total viewership for TGL’s second season was 21.782 million viewers – an 8 percent increase from Season 1 (20.215 million).
